Why Do Game Testers Need a Resume?
Game testing is a job. Just like with any job, you will need a resume to apply for it. Now I’m not saying that certain employers won’t let you get away without one, there are those who will but you will come off as a professional if you already have a great resume put together. On top of that, with a great resume you’ll get noticed.
One of the key points I really stress is putting together a good resume. One that is geared specifically towards game testing. This is not something every wanna be game tester knows about, but believe it or not, you’ll get a lot further if you heed my advice.
A good gaming resume is going to display a multitude of key points:
1. Your experience gaming. This simply means you have experience at playing games and you can properly display them on a piece of paper.
2. Any professional game testing experience. Granted not everyone has this, but there is a possibility that if you’ve never been hired for a game testing position that you have participated in a free beta at some point in your life.
3. Your passion for gaming. You want to be able to show the employer that you love gaming. That it’s a passion and the best way to do this is through a great objective.
4. Your technical skills. Everyone has technical skills of some sort. Whether it be your familiarity with excel or the fact that you know how to do some programming. Show them what you can do.
The whole point of a resume is to get you the interview. So if you don’t have one, who is going to call you?
