College Options for the Gamer
I really can’t stress this enough. If you want to move up and make the big bucks you have got to get yourself some sort of degree related to gaming. It just is what it is. I mean realistically we’re just not going to make a ton of money testing games, AND it is hard work.
There are several institutes that I suggest looking into if you’re going to try to push forward in the gaming world.
1. DigiPen Institute of Technology 
Located in Redmond Washington DigiPen offers an assortment of education options including:
* Degrees
* Workshops
* High School programs
* Continuing Education opportunities
The degree programs are all on site and classes are offered on a semester basis. Enrollment is each fall. You can focus on Game Design, Computer Science, Interactive Simulation, and so much more.
Their current workshops include one on video game programming.
This is a great option for any gamer out there located in Washington.
Although they do offer online programs, these classes are not for game development. Their campuses are located in Winter Park,FL (a suburb of Orlando) and they really do look amazing.
Bachelor degree options in gaming are game development, computer animation, and game art. You can also get your master’s degree in game design.
Graduates from their school have been extremely successful and you will see on their site people have worked on games such as Madden 05-06, Guitar Hero on Tour, and Quake 4. Their graduates have also gone on to work for major companies such as Microsoft XNA Game Studio & Insomniac Games.
These are just two options you have as a gamer looking to expand your horizons. There are so many more out there.
