Be Honest, Can You Test Games From Home?
Well what do you think? I mean I’m sure by the time you’re reading this blog post you’ve already done some research on the matter. I’m sure most of it points to people who want you to buy stuff so you can sit on a couch and test games. At least that is what they claim you can do.
Listen I’m going to be honest with you. There are betas that you can do from home. I’m sure some of you may have already participated in something like that online. But those betas are unpaid.
So the next question is, can you test games from home and GET PAID?
I have seen a lot of negative talk regarding home based testing. Many people say the reason you couldn’t do such a thing has to do with protecting the security of an unreleased game. That makes sense right? I mean does a developer want to let a game that they are working on outside of their location.
So have I seen jobs where they let you test from home. Yes I have, but not locally in the states. I’ve seen a few in Germany (where I guess they do things different than we do). So the short of it is that yeah those jobs are out there, but not here in the US. Not if you want to get paid for testing a game.
