I can tell you that over the years I have seen a large number of staffing agencies being hired by big gaming firms to find their game testers.
The way this works is you are employed by the staffing agency, not the gaming company. That company pays the staffing agency for your time but never has to add you on to payroll, saving major expenses for them.
There are several that are well known for hiring game testers throughout the US. The most frequently viewed staffing agencies are:
Volt is a Fortune 1000 company and is actually traded on the NYSE. Their current revenue exceeds $2 billion. That’s right two billion dollars. They are frequently posting ads for various gaming companies looking to hire temporary testers. You can search their jobs here.
Started back in 1983, they currently staff over 80,000 contract and internal employees. They are contracted by Nintendo and frequently post game testing positions on their behalf. You can search their jobs here.
Founded back in 1964, AppleOne has over 200 offices throughout the US and Canada. They also offer benefits packages to their contractors (in certain cases). I have seen them post ads for a variety of different gaming companies. To view their jobs, just go here.
Just remember all the jobs you will get with these companies are temporary staffing jobs. When the assignment is over, you may get another assignment but it’s not guaranteed.
