South Carolina Equals Game Studios
So do you think that if you live in South Carolina you have no options as a game tester? Well think again.
You have several options to choose from and in continuing with my ongoing reports on game studios all over the US, here are my top selections for South Carolina:
Founded in 2006 they are currently in production of Poker Smash. You can visit the Poker Smash site here.
The company is run by two very young guys and I’m sure they’ll have a lot to offer us in the coming years.
Interactive Data Visualization, Inc. (IDV)
Focusing on developing software products with 3-D technology, IDV was founded in 1999. They are currently headquartered in Lexington, SC.
IDV launched SpeedTree which is a software product suite used for creating 3D things in games. SpeedTree has been used in Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3.
This is a one man show from what I can make of it. But it is possible he hires other people to help him with his contracts. They are also a registered XBox 360 developer Under the portfolio section of his site, you can see the titles he has shipped out. It could be worth checking into.
Their creative studio is located in Charleston, SC while the corporate headquarters is in GA.
The story behind Kiz Toys is quite an interesting one. You can read about how it began here.
Kiz Toys basically came about because a couple of guys who were also dads got sick and tired of hearing about all the kids being harmed by their own toys. They did something about it, and Kiz Toys was born. Very interesting company and one to watch over the next several years.
You will see there are options no matter where you live. And although I talk about the US quite often (because I do love it so) there are jobs in other countries as well.
